Tim Settimi's talent has been called 'explosive'; his performances have been called 'striking and magical.' An entertainer/artist whose talented abilities stretch from comedy to mime, from slapstick to music, Tim takes his audiences on a ride filled with laughter and joy to emotional thoughtfulness.
A native of Chicago and now a current resident of Atlanta, Georgia, Tim Settimi's performing odyssey began as a musician at Western Illinois University where he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1971. Upon graduation Tim toiled in Miami where he worked at a local television station and as a freelance illustrator. He moved to Boston to continue his art career where he became fascinated with the art of mime, enrolled with The Pocket Mime Theater and was soon performing his new found art.
Tim began his live performance career as a street performer, appearing where crowds would gather in cities such as Boston, Toronto, New York, Montreal, and Chicago. Tim's shows became stronger and filled with more than mime. He moved his act from the streets to the stage incorporating both comedic and classical mime, stand-up comedy, acrobatic and pratfall roller skating, song parodies and original music.
Tim's audiences are varied now as he appears in theaters, colleges and universities, comedy clubs and arts festivals throughout North and South America. Tim has appeared in concert with such diverse performers as Gloria Estafan and the Miami Sound Machine, Doc Severinson, Willie Nelson, Kenny Loggins, Little Richard, and Steve Martin. His talents have translated well to television and movies with appearances on Comedy Tonight, WTBS, Nice People, Showtime's Atlanta Laff-Off, Comedy on the Road, Martes 13, a television show syndicated throughout South America, and in the feature films The Prize Fighter, with Tim Conway, and Crisscross, with Goldie Hawn.
Tim's performances in all venues have garnished him with great reviews and notices, but it is the nation's colleges and universities that have acknowledged Tim's talents and achievements. Tim has been voted 1988 Campus Entertainer of the Year by the National Association of Campus Activities and it's 1500 member universities. This award combined with his receiving the award as Performing Artist of the Year in 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988.
Tim's first venture into recorded music was also met with critical acclaim. The album is not a comedy album but echoes his live performance bringing alive his special characters to allow him to touch in each of us a wide range of emotions.
Since 2000 Tim has been with the Big Apple Circus, Clown Care Unit at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.
